Tom and Lisa Taylor
Tom and Lisa Taylor have owned and operated South Shore Marina since 1985. Lisa takes care of the books and feeds the crew! Tom actually started at South Shore Marina in 1971 while still in high school. His first job was working on the dock and filling up gas tanks with fuel! He attended his first Marine Service school in 1974. For over twenty five years Tom has been consistently rated one of the top outboard mechanics in Southwestern Ohio. Tom introduced boat sales to the business in 1992 and sold four boats that first year! Tom now concentrates his efforts in the Service Department training the other technicians and doing advanced troubleshooting. Tom is also one of the longest running concessionaires in the Ohio State Park system. Tom laid his roots in the marine industry right here on the banks of Cowan Lake. He operated the business right out of the marina from 1985 until 2003. 2003 brought the expansion of the sales facility to the current location on Highway 730. And additional expansion was completed in 2007 at that location as well.
Chad Taylor, VP/General Manager
Chad Taylor has worked at South Shore Marina for as long as he can remember. The youngest son of Tom and Lisa Taylor, Chad started his career working during the summer on the dock at the Marina. Chad continued to work at the family marina throughout his high school years and while on breaks from college. He also joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in July of 2000 and still serves in the reserves. Chad has been away from South Shore only for the two years he spent working in the auto industry and for the time required to serve on active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Liberty Shield/Enduring Freedom. Chad now coordinates boat sales for the dealership. Chad serves on several marine industry panels and was appointed by former Gov. Ted Strickland to the Ohio Waterways Safety Council. He has also earned honors as a Top Ten Lowe Boats salesperson, and was nominated by Boating Industry Magazine as being one of the Top 35 Young Industry Leaders under the age of 40. Chad continues to be an advocate for boater’s voices all over Southern Ohio. As well, he is active in the American Legion where he has served as several post officers and district officers. Chad enjoys boating, musky fishing, the Cincinnati Bengals, and riding his Harley-Davidson. Chad is married to his wife Stacy and they have three daughters, Brooklyn, Jenna, and Temperance.
